ARTWORK STATEMENT:

The Crossing is a series of photographs taken in 2020 as we as a global community faced unprecedented death. The photographs are deeply personal and reflect crossings in the life of the artist in this time frame.

Artist Bio:

Ellen is a filmmaker and photographer focused on issues at the forefront of human rights including sex trafficking in Burma, Tibetan political prisoners, the social alienation of people with leprosy, and genocide in Cambodia. Ellen serves on the board of the Buddhist Film Festival, the Pacific Pioneer Fund, and Ethical Traveler. Ellen studied film at Stanford University. She is a recipient of Guggenheim and Rockefeller Fellowships.
