ARTWORK STATEMENT:

Nature is an example of abundant and infinite possibility. With its innate and efficient ability to self organize, cooperate, and adapt, it provides a multitude of examples for mutual aid and interdependence that can guide human relationships towards care-based systems. Vessel of Expansive Liminality represents an ecosystem within a vessel that holds space for all possibilities. In times of deep upheaval and transition, we can look to the desert for signs of resistance, regeneration, and survival. It is a harsh environment, yet it flourishes with life. It radiates warmth and the expansive skies leave room for us to challenge our perceptions and transcend beyond societal boundaries. Through nature we are able to see a reflection of our own complex existence, to which we have the opportunity to expand our visions of how we want to live in this world.

Artist Bio:

I am an Oakland-based painter from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Deeply moved by the two places I call home, my work focuses on concepts of memory, place, and my relationship to the environment. My visual language serves as a blueprint to explore how we, as humans, experience and interact with the land that holds us.
