ARTWORK STATEMENT:

You who are felt but cannot be seen - To you, my body is open. To you, my mind is open. As universe, so the soul. *paragraph break* An Ark is a womb. Its purpose is protective passage. My journey towards motherhood has come with tragedy and struggle. This work is a ritual. Ru’ach, in Hebrew, means breath/spirit. The gesture is the energy infused into the working.

ARTIST BIO:

An artist of many disciplines and mediums, Pataky focuses on the relationship between her own hands and material. Informing her material selection is a meditation on the elements of our universe; she is aware of the history of these elements from their origins in the universe to their applications in culture and myth. The storied existence of these mediums adds layers to the work while both a personal and process-driven narrative drive the work further forward.
