ARTwork statement:

The series Ark of Bones offers visions into a space of black afterlives. Inspired by Henry Dumas’s short story Ark of Bones, the series swims between corporeal being and unseen realities.

ARTIST BIO:

Sydney Cain is a visual artist born and raised in San Francisco. Their work has been a reflection of an unseen reality we experience. Cain produces works on paper largely using dye, lithography, graphite, and chalk as emblems of impermanence and transformation. Within their work, the unseen presence of the deceased becomes a focal point. A told story of suffering transforms into a remembrance of spiritual evolution and healing for people of African descent.
